How to celebrate the Jubilee in Cawsand and Kingsand
The whole of the UK is starting to get ready to celebrate one of the most significant events to happen to us all for a long time. The Platinum Jubilee of HRH Queen Elizabeth. People all around the UK are not only looking forward to an extra Bank Holiday but also the chance to celebrate one of the things that sets us apart from other countries in the world. Our Royal family.
Here in Kingsand and Cawsand, we, like so many other towns and villages around the country, have put together our own Jubilee celebrations for those who live in the town or are just visiting for the long weekend to join in.
So, if you will be in the area over the weekend, then here are some of the main things that you can look forward to seeing or doing. Read More
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacon Trail
If you want to learn more about the area and see what both Kingsand and Cawsand have to offer, this trail is perfect for you—running until June 12th, starts at the Kingsand Village Shop and then takes you through seven stops.
Each stop has its own QR code that you can scan before learning one story from each of the Queen’s centuries on the throne. Not only this, but each stop offers a digital stamp that you can collect and allows you to encounter a virtual character too. This event is kindly sponsored by Visit Rame.
Here at Forgotten Corner Holiday Cottages, we wanted to be able to show our support to the fantastic celebrations that are going on in the area. To do this, we decided to sponsor the Window Wonders activity.
This is where those who live and work in the area have decorated the windows of their building, ready for any passers-by to see. Of course, each of them has created their window display to celebrate all things Queen related, and it is going to be amazing to see just how much effort has been put into decorating all these windows.
In Coombe Park, on Saturday, June 4th, a community fete will be running all afternoon. This will be on the playing field and will be a great way to spend some time. There will be a whole host of stalls for you to take a look at, but there will also be fun family games.
The kids will love the bouncy castle and face painting, whilst the adults will definitely want to visit the hog roast and refreshments stand whilst they are there.
On Sunday, a parade runs from the Cawsand Square right up to the Cleave Kingsand. This sets off at 12:15, and when it reaches its destination, this is where The Big Lunch (a community street party) will be held.
As you can see, there are so many great things going on that it will be a great way to celebrate just what makes us great! So, why not pop along and join in? We promise you that you will have a weekend that you won’t forget!
